KL to Malaka

We had a nice lie in and lazy morning as we weren't leaving KL until 1pm. We had lunch at the same chinese restaurant as the day before. Gary got stuck with Marina while the rest of us had bits and pieces to sort out. We got back to the restuarant to see Marina throwing a big strop because they hadn't brought her the right steamed dumplings! Gary was doing his best to diffuse the situation but we were just trying not to laugh at her.

We got back to the hotel and had a taxi to take our bags to the bus station while we walked. Marina aka Princess was complianing that she had to carry her bag across the road. We had to wait over half an hour because the buses were all queued up. We were literally dripping with sweat and trying desperately to find a small breeze to keep us cool. Our bus came in and we loaded our bags on. Princess expected Dan to help her but after her dramatics from earlier he just walked off leaving her quite bemused!

The bus was luxury compared to other buses we'd been on. It was nice and cool and we had lots of leg room and the chairs reclined. The journey to Malaka was just over 2 hours so it was over very quickly. We got dropped off at the main bus station so Mim organised Taxis to take us back into town. Some drivers were trying it on saying there was lots of traffic so were trying to charge more and then shouting in Malaysian to any drivers Mim approached. We eventually found some and our driver was really lovely. He was giving us a guided tour and telling us all about the local food. We were the first to arrive at the hotel. The hotel was nice but like a labyrinth. The rooms were numbered randomly.

We put our bags down and then headed out for a little walk to get our bearings. We found a bar and had a couple of drinks before Chris took us to a nice restuarant he knew. Tour Leader Chris (TLC) dragged us all around before discovering his restuarant would be closed until March. Mim was laughing at him but we didn't mind the walk. We ended up back where we had drinks and had a nice Indian meal again.

Gary had to phone his son for his birthday so we went back to the hotel and played on the internet and played name that tune again. We went back out at 10.30pm but it wasn't all that lively. We found a few nice bars and one had a really good singer in. We went back to the hotel and had tea club in the room, this time minus the tea though. We were falling asleep so called it a night at 1.30am.
