Yesterday’s blog was short as we didn’t have a lot of battery. I was going to type it up in more detail but there doesn’t seem to be much point as I’ve told you already the best bits.
Last night we had dinner, tinned bolognaise ravioli with a few extra nice bits in. I was surprised with how nice it tasted so we’ll probably have it again when we want something quick and easy. As it was Ian’s birthday yesterday we had a little party for him. We sat in between the vans and played cards. We tried to play easy games we all knew but we all seemed to have different versions of playing them so we just ended up arguing! It was getting really cold so I dug out Dan’s fleece for him and he found his beanie hat in the pocket, so he was sitting in his shorts, fleece and hat like an idiot. It started to rain so we all got into Pepina. We chatted for a while and then went to sleep at about 10.30pm.
We slept well considering we were in a truck stop. We got up and I made us bacon sandwiches. We packed up and headed to Brisbane airport as Helen wanted to change her return flight. We didn’t want to pay $2 for 15 mins or $6 for 30 mins so we found a garage and pulled in. Helen and I went to find out about it but the office was shut so it was a waste of time. We then drove to a campsite we found in a campsite magazine. It took us ages as we had to avoid the toll bridge. The lady was really rude checking us in but the campsite is ok.
The men went to the supermarket while Helen and I did the washing. We splashed out and paid for a machine wash for once, but I still had to wash some things by hand. The men have just got back from the supermarket. They were so pleased as they found a hammer on the side of the road but we were soon laughing at them as they managed to pay for the mince and leave it at the shop so Helen and I had to go back to get it. Afterwards we just chilled out. We had our first nice hot shower in days but now it’s feeling a bit chillier at nights as we have travelled further south.
Dan is cooking burgers for dinner and we’re having wedges and garlic bread with it because the camp kitchen has an oven!!!
