Luxury

Last night the bugs were awful. There were millions of them attracted to the light. We converted Pepina into table and chairs and sat inside. Helen had to hide from the old man! We were deciding where to stay as our plan of moving inland had not worked. We rang round a few campsites but couldn't get through to the one we wanted. We'd looked up the price on the internet and knew it would be hyped up as it's New South Wales school holidays. We were fed up of spending money just driving about and having nothing to do. Helen and Ian went to bed and turned off the light in the kitchen so all the flies came round our van. We zipped up the flaps so none could come in and couldn't wait to get away!

This morning we woke up and it was really peaceful. The old man was talking to me and I had to wake Helen up to get his caravan book back. He then spoke to us for ages and ages and ages! We saw some bearded lizards. 2 males were fighting over a female and one male even stood up on his back legs and ran towards the female. It was good to see them in their natural habitat. Dan missed all of it because he was still in bed!!!!

We rang up the caravan park and got a deal for one night. We drove to Miami, which is just south of Surfers Paradise. We took the scenic route off the highway so we could see what it had to offer. The high rise buildings dominated the sky line and it was good to see. They were putting together all the stands for the indy car race street circuit so we drove a little bit on what will be the race track. Pepina beat Sheila, lol!

We got to the campsite and had a look round to check it was clean. It was so clean we couldn't believe our luck and the pool was brilliant. We had lunch and did some clothes washing before heading to the pool. The water was warm unlike yesterdays pool. We had fun playing on the slide, which we think is really for kids but no one said we couldn't go on it. We dried off and decided we would stay another week if we could get a deal on the price. Helen and I negotiated a night free so it worked out only $26.50 per night for a powered site.

We got changed and walked to find the shops. Apparently Pacific Fair Shopping centre was only 20 minutes walk away but really it took us about 2 and a half hours to walk there and look around and walk back. We found every kind of shop we could ever need. We got back and thought we'd have to cook in the dark but we found outside our van there were some lights so it was easy. We sat outside the van, the first time for ages that we've been able to do that in a while. We're still sitting here now and are really glad we decided to pay a bit more and get a decent campsite.
