SOLD

Dan was feeling a bit better today. We had someone looking at the van at 12.30ish so knew we'd have to get ready for then. We got a phone call from a French guy and he wanted to look at it straight away. He didn't understand everything I was telling him so he got someone to translate but she wasn't much better. We managed to get him to understand where to meet us but he was coming at 12.30 too. We went to start Pepina and when she is low on fuel she doesn't start too well. We filled her up with the 10l from the petrol can. She started straight away. We were getting to know her little quirks and it felt funny getting her ready to be sold.

We drove her down the road so they had no link to Damelza's flat. We got a phone call to say they were at the Jam Factory shopping centre so I walked to meet them. They were a scruffy couple looking to buy a van here to sell in Sydney for a 4WD. They seemed perfect for Pepina. We showed them the van and they loved it. We started her up and told them about the whistling noise and they didn't seem bothered by it. They went for a test drive and just as they got back the other viewing turned up. She was Irish and didn't seem too impressed with Pepina. She was too late anyway as the French couple made an offer on her. I still showed the Irish girl around as she had made the effort to get there. She was very nice and I chatted to her and told her a few helpful hints for travelling.

Dan went with the Frenchies to the bank but he'd forgotten his bank card and wanted Dan to go with him to get it on the tram. Dan said he'd wait for him to get back and for him to call us when they were back in South Yarra. They managed to get lost on their way back! We ate lunch while we were waiting and then they phoned us to say they were back on the tram and to meet them back at the bank. We waited about 10 minutes as they ended up getting a $175 fine for not having a ticket on the tram!

We had to translate for them in the bank as they were nervous about speaking English even though they were pretty good. Dan asked for the money in $100 notes. The guy didn't want to carry it down the street but we didn't want to take it until we were back at the van. We showed them how eveything worked and made sure they understood things. We signed over the paperwork and took the money. They drove away but didn't know the way back to St Kilda! It was the first time they'd driven it but she started straight away and they pulled away fine.

Dan and I were ecstatic, even though we had sold her to Frenchies! I went to the supermarket to get us some nice things for dinner. Dan is now cooking us my favourite of chicken wrapped in bacon with melted cheese, wedges, peas and bbq sauce :-)
