Yesterday late afternoon we were all falling asleep so Thomas suggested going to see if we could see the hermit crabs on the beach. We drove down to the beach (Thomas doesn’t like walking!) and walked to the right off the beach. Jackie didn’t like it that way as she said that’s where the crocs are. We couldn’t go to find the hermit crabs as the tide was too far in. We did find some pippies. They are small shells with little animals in which close up as soon as we dug them out of the sand. It was windy but the water was lovely and warm. We played in the park for a little while and then drove home. We had dinner and then just watched a film, The good, the bad and the ugly. It was good but goes on and on and on so I went to bed about 11.00 and Dan came up when it had finished.
It’s hard to get up when there is nothing to do. We got up about 9.30am and I had breakfast. There wasn’t anything Dan wanted and we’d run out of tea bags so we walked to the supermarket. It wasn’t far and it was quite nice when we were in the shade. I showed Dan the scary bit where the crocs are but this time we looked up to see if we could see the birds which were making all the noise. We were surprised to see that the birds were actually bats! Loads and loads of them making lots of squarking noises. We got a few bits from the super market and walked back.
Dan went on the computer while I read the newspaper outside. I was bored so I borrowed Thomas’s bike and cycled to the beach. The sand is fairly firm so I cycled along almost until the end. I stopped and cooled my feet down and then found a shady spot to read my book. It was so relaxing. After half an hour I cycled back. Again it seems so much longer on the way back! The tide was right out, the complete opposite to last night. I cycled home and Dan was in the pool with Hannah. I joined them and the water was a welcome relief from the hot sun. We chatted to Gillian and Thomas and then Dan went over the road to get some fish, chips and chicken balls for lunch. The sun was so hot so after my food went down I went back in the pool. Hannah came in again with me.
Thomas had his afternoon and evening planned as there was footy on. Hawthorn (Thomas’s team) were playing Essenden. Whoever won would be in the finals. Dan joined him while I had a shower and went to pick up Jackie from work. When I came back Hawthorn were winning but by the third quarter Essenden had started playing well. Thomas gave up watching so Dan and I could cheer to our hearts content! Essenden won by 17 points. We came out to the pool and Thomas said we’d better get used to the pool loungers as that’s where we’re sleeping tonight!!!!
