Today we got up and walked to the beach. The beach is just down the road so didn't take too long to get to. We went for a swim. The sea was warm but it's not surprising as it was really warm today, without a cloud in the sky. We put some sun cream on but didn't intend to stay too long in the water. We walked a long a bit more then stopped again for another swim. We were fairly close to the town so we decided to walk along the rest of the beach. It's called 4 mile beach but I'm not convinced it's 4 miles long!
We walked off the beach right by Jackie's hotel. We got a bit disorientated as we walked all the way round the block and ended up right where we started! We walked along the main road and went to Coles. We bought some nice pasta, prawns/turkey, olives and water melon for lunch. We walked to our usual lunch spot and had our feast. We bought what we thought was fruit juice but we had to add water to it so it was too strong. After lunch we went back to Coles to buy some water. On the way we bought some spray sun lotion and a Great Barrier Reef sew on badge for my blanket.
We saw some of Jackie's neighbours in the supermarket. I think if we stay around here too much longer we'll be considered as locals!
We walked back to the beach and had another swim. Dan was looking very red on his chest so I smoothered him in our new cream and he turned his back to the sun. The water is only waist deep for ages so we just stayed fairly near the shore. When we'd had enough sun we got our and stayed in the shade. I read my book while Dan played with the sand. He soon got bored with entertaining himself. He was making fake crab holes and then sticking his finger down it and pretending to me he'd been beaten by a crab! I think he's missing his play mates.
We decided to walk some of the way back down the beach. It wasn't so hot but the sun was still strong. We thought it would be better just to go straight back all in one go but it seemed far longer than when we walked there. I now believe 4 mile beach is 4 miles long! We didn't know exactly where to get off the beach so when I couldn't walk any further we stopped for a short rest. Dan went off to find a toilet and I thought it'd be quicker to walk along the road rather than the beach. It still seemed like we had miles to go until we eventually found the road back. Luckily our instincts had been right and it was shorter to walk on the road.
We got home and Dan jumped straight in the shower. We had to borrow some after sun from Thomas as ours was still in Pepina. Dan is not happy about his tan lines which were caused by wearing sun cream on his shoulders and top of his arms. He is very red!! I had a shower and spoke to my mum on the phone. We had an early dinner of butter chicken and rice. Thomas had cooked it and it was really nice. After dinner Dan played on the internet while I read my book. Hannah was then sharing out chocolates. She only had one crunchie bar and both Dan and I wanted it. Hannah chose me to give it to :-) but then she let him have a bite of her white chocolate Freddie.
Now we're just watching TV. We're going to watch Neighbours as Paul gets married today. I'm going to try and upload some photos of Dan's hair in a minute as I'm sure you all want to see it.
