House cleaning

Today was house cleaning day. Jackie’s mum is coming tomorrow so she wanted to clean the house from top to bottom. I got up as I could hear her already washing the dishes. I put all the rubbish I could find in the bin. Hannah woke up so I gave her a bath and got her dressed as she was supposed to be going to school. Dan got up to take Hannah to school but she said to her dad she wanted to stay and help so he gave into her. Jackie wouldn’t let us help her with the cleaning. She said we could help by looking after Hannah.

Thomas was cleaning out the fridge so Hannah was helping him throw things away. They had like 4 vegamites but if Hannah had her way she’d throw everything out! Thomas sorted out his spice rack so Dan and I got a good selection to keep us going on our travels. We also got some tea bags, shampoo, hot chocolate and hand wash. Once the bin was full I took Hannah into the swimming pool. Dan was busy helping Thomas put all the bedroom furniture on the balcony so he didn’t come in but he came out to see us. We were trying to convince Hannah to come with us to Mossman but she wouldn’t.

Dan and I drove to check on Pepina. She had her front seats out and most of the engine out. We got a few bits and peices out including the tent and bedding. I drove back and went to Dougie’s where we’re going to stay tomorrow. We had a look round and liked the place. Trouble is they don’t have any free tent spaces but they might have tomorrow so we’ll have to go back and see. We went to the supermarket to get some lunch.

When we got home Hannah came out with us to eat lunch in the BBQ area. Then we put the tent up. Hannah helped us by taking some photos. She got some pretty good ones. We pumped up the air mattress but it’s only a single one. I don’t like air mattresses so Dan can sleep on it. The tent was easy to put up. It’s got 2 poles on the inside and then the outer part velcros onto it, with another pole for the entrance. It’s a fairly spacious 2 man tent and is pratically brand new.

Once we’d finished with the tent we went for another swim. I convinced Hannah to take her life jacket off as she was swimming really well. She took it off and swam without it. She puts her face in so can only swim until she runs out of breathe but was really confident. I got her to jump in and then swim to me. For 2 and a half she swims brilliantly. We videoed her and she’s such a show off she kept doing it over and over again, showing everyone. We’re hoping she’ll be tired tonight but we’re not holding out to much hope.

We had to stay in the water until the carpets were dry as Jackie was having them all steam cleaned. It was getting cold as the sun went down. Once the carpets were dry Dan helped Thomas put the beds back. I spoke to my parents and then had a shower. Wai challenged Dan to a game of tennis and when I came to watch him he started playing badly. Before that he reckons he was doing really well and I just put him off! He enjoyed playing as Wai was far better than I am. Wai gave him a cheap racket which left him with a black hand.

Now we’re just sitting outside waiting to have another BBQ. Dan is going to be happy as there is about a ton of prawns, so he can throw a shrimp on the barbie!!!!
