The big move

Today we were moving out of Jackie's to Dougie's a local backpacker place. We didn't really know what was happening as Thomas, Jackie and Hannah had to go to the airport and pick up Auntie Lina and Uncle Joe. We got up and had breakfast. The others then went shopping so really we could've stayed in bed a bit longer as we'd had a late night with some of Jackie's friends from Melbourne. We watched TV until they came home. They were running late so we quickly put the shopping away and then Dan went with them to pick up their rental car as they needed a bigger car.

When Dan got back we had a cup of tea and then packed the car and drove to Dougie's. When we asked them if they had any spaces for tents she said we could walk around with her and see. She suggested one patch which was the walkway to the toilets! We then found another couple of small patches and I mean small, just enough for our 2 man tent. We laid out the inner bit and a french guy watching said it'd be way too hot in the sun and to move under the tree where it would only be hot rather than sweat dripping! We later realised he was half right but it was still sweat dripping in the shade rather than sizzling in the direct sun!!!

We set the tent up and organised our things. The air mattress was useless as it was too hot so soon went down. We went to reception to pay the bill for 2 nights as we are hoping we may not be here on Thursday night. If we are we can just see them on Thursday. We drove into town because although we are closer it's still too far in the heat. We went to our local lunch place, Coles the supermarket, and bought some cheese, crackers and drinks and walked to our usual lunch place and sat in the shade to eat it. It is really lovely in the shade. We saw some reallt colourful birds, not sure what type they were but looked like small parrotts.

We drove back to Dougies and after being in the tent for 10 minutes we were sweating loads so we gave up trying to arrange things in the tent and went for a swim. The pool is small but adequate. It cooled us down and then we relaxed in the hammocks. I spoke to Damelza for a little while and then read my book while Dan fell asleep. It got too hot in the hammocks as they were half in the sun so I started to annoy Dan until he woke up properly. Dan got up to go and get the laptop and someone jumped in his hammock so we both moved to a nearby table to go on the internet. We get a much better signal here even if the laptop still takes ages to switch on! Some other people came over to the pool. They seem a lot younger than us and a couple of them were mucking about play fighting but it looked quite nasty because at one point the guy had the girl round the neck and was pushing her under the water. They were laughing about it but it didn't look fun to us. Maybe we're getting old!

Thomas rang us to say they were home so we could take the car back when we were ready. We had a shower and drove to Thomas's. I had sprayed myself with insect repellant and then put my shoes on but they stuck to me and I had black marks ont he top of my feet! Auntie Lina and Uncle Joe were at the house. Hannah showed us her new dresses and earings her Nana had bought her. Joe was watching the dog racing on TV and we soon got bored of it. We had a look at the hire car which was very spacious. They were going to eat dinner so we stayed as well. It was Timpana and salad and Thomas used the Jamie Oliver receipe Dan had found for him on the internet.

After a second small helping we were stuffed. We helped clean up and I had to write something out for my Auntie clearer as she needs to go to the bank. Then Thomas and Hannah took us back to our tent. We borrowed a mattress from them as I didn't fancy sleeping on the hard floor. Hannah likes our tent and Thomas reckons the campsite resembles a kurdish village because it's so tightly packed. We came into the bar and Dan got his jug of beer. We played pool, well I moved the balls around the table while Dan potted them. Dan spoke to his newphews and I spoke to my friend Emily. Now I'm just typing this up in the bar while some guy attempts to sing! He's not too bad but he's not all that great. I suppose it's better than nothing though.
