Swimming

Last night we went out for dinner. Even on a Friday night the town was dead. There were bearly any restaurants either. We found a busy one so chose to eat there. We ate Maltese food as I had ravioli and Dan had rabbit. Dan loved his and in seconds he'd scoffed it all down! I was stuffed but we waited about half an hour before I ordered a lemon pancake and Dan had a dark rum coffee. It was delicious and we both left feeling we'd made a good choice of restaurant. We stopped off at the pub at the end of the road as it was karaoke. There were a few people in there but they seemed like they took karaoke very seriously. Some were really good singers. I put in my request and I sang summer of 69. The atmosphere was a bit strange so I didn't sing anymore.

We got back to the van and Norm from next door had a few mates over and invited us to join them. They were already pretty drunk so just kept talking about rubbish. One guy from New Zealand, nicknamed Wombat or Goldfish, kept asking us the same question about our travels. They were nice enough but we were both tired so after an hour we headed to bed. We both fell asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow.

This morning we had planned to go to the outdoor swimming pool. It was only a short walk across the bridge so didn't take us too long to get there. As it's Saturday there were loads of kids there but they weren't a problem. In fact watching the games they made up kept us entertained. We swam a bit but it was pretty chilly in the water. Dan chatted to some other English people who were working around here. We bought lunch from the kiosk, it wasn't the best but it was cheap. The real entertainment came when they put the inflatable in the water. It was just about holding the kids but when the adults went on it it was tipping over. We didn't go on it as it looked too much like hard work! The kids were loving it and some were squirting the cold hose to try and get the people off who were hanging on for dear life!

We left about 2.45pm and walked to the bank. Most of the shops were already shut so we had to walk all the way to the supermarket to get some food for dinner. We're having bangers and mash but I'm not sure if I will make mash or just do boiled potatoes!
